Racism tore the United States apart in the 1960s, but several brave men and women took a stand that changed this country forever!

One of those men was Sam Oni, a young African man from the Yoruba Tribe, who forever altered the landscape of race relations and college athletics. MORE THAN CHAMPIONS focuses on the stories of a few pioneers, who refused to give in to the twisted culture and did the right thing at any cost. Sam and Don Baxter found themselves fighting segregation at previously all-white Mercer University. Hatred and prejudice from both sides prompted heroes to come forward and make a lasting difference in spite of overwhelming opposition.

Executive Producer and Fund Manager, Jag Gholson, envisions both a feature film and a documentary, working with GRP to take advantage of both platforms to tell this powerful story. Many of the interviews, including a special appearance by Gator Rivers of the Harlem Globetrotters, showcase how basketball helped bridge the gap in mending the deadly race relations of the '60s.
